Senior leaders of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu cadre along with their supporters and followers are likely to join Indian National Congress.
As per the information from the reliable sources, it is likely that some senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Jammu cadre, along with their supporters and followers, will join the Indian National Congress (INC). The leaders expected to make the switch include former MLA Yashpal Kundal from Samba, DDC member from Suchetgarh Taranjeet Singh Tony, and Mandeep Choudhary, who served as the AAP Minority Cell Chairman.
These leaders had joined AAP in April of the previous year in New Delhi. Taranjeet Singh Tony, who was once associated with the National Conference from Jammu, joined AAP with the aim of bringing about positive politics and welfare in Jammu and Kashmir.
Yash Paul Kundal, who was serving as the SC Cell Chairman of AAP, had a background with the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers party and had held positions such as the state president of the Young Panthers, the party’s youth wing. He had also been a Member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and served as the Minister of Animal and Sheep Husbandry from 2002 to 2008.
Mandeep Choudhary, the AAP Minority Cell Chairman, had previously been associated with the BJP as a spokesperson for Kissan Cell.
According to the sources, these leaders are likely to submit their resignations to the AAP high command and formally join the Indian National Congress soon.
The AAP spokesperson, Om Khajuria, clarified that these leaders were not originally from AAP but from other regional parties. He mentioned that they had a regional attitude and were pressuring the party leadership. He further explained that as AAP is a national party, any statement made in the media needs to align with the party’s ideology to avoid repercussions in other states. Khajuria also mentioned that the closure of the party’s office in Jammu was due to financial constraints, but he believes that their departure will not significantly impact the party.
When contacted, Taranjeet Singh Tony denied any knowledge of such a development as of the current moment. Yash Paul Kundal stated that he is in a meeting and cannot comment on the matter at that time.
