In a significant breakthrough, the Bishnah police claimed to have made a major stride in solving a 15-year-old attempted murder case, leading to the arrest of Ex BJP OBC Morcha President, Brahm Jyot, also known as Seetu, history sheeter in police records. The court today granted a 10-day police remand for Seetu, while another accused, Raj Daluja, the Editor-in-Chief of a renowned newspaper and a top businessman, remains absconding.
According to sources, the case revolves around the attempted murder of Sunny Saansiya, the son of Baldev Raj from Kothey Bulanday, Chorli, Bishnah, on the evening of September 14, 2023.
“During the course of questioning the murder suspects, one of them confessed not only to the murder of Sunny but also to an incident in 2008 involving the assault of Crime Journalist, Govind Chouhan with a sharp-edged weapon,” said police source, adding that the 2008 incident resulted in the registration of FIR 157/2008 under sections 307/34 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) and the 4/25 Arms Act at the Bishnah police station.
Startlingly, the suspect revealed that it was Ex BJP OBC Morcha President, Brahm Jyot alias Seetu, who had directed the attack on the journalist. Moreover, he confessed to receiving a contract of Rs. 35,000 from Seetu for the crime.
“Upon receiving this critical information, senior police officers swiftly formed teams and apprehended Brahm Jyot alias Seetu. During the police interrogation, Seetu disclosed that Raj Daluja had assigned him the task,” alleged sources, adding that in an effort to locate Raj Daluja, police teams conducted raids at various locations, including the Lemon Tree Hotel, his residence, and his office.
“Unfortunately, Raj Daluja managed to evade arrest. Subsequently, it has been reported that he has obtained anticipatory bail,” said sources.
Talking to The Typewriter, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for the Jammu-Kathua-Samba (JKS) Range, Shakti Pathak, confirmed the arrest of Brahm Jyot alias Seetu in connection with the case. He emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, as authorities continue to unravel the intricate details surrounding this long-standing case.
