Advisor to Guv accommodates relative on prime post, influencing recruitment process

Sanchita Bhatt

Jammu, March 28

The favoritism for sycophants in present Governor’s Rule is quite dazing, but the fact is that under the very nose of present dispensation, one of advisors to the Governor is allegedly involved with impunity to do the harm.

The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu is in under scanner for involvement in appeasing a close kin of an advisor by allegedly accommodating her as a demonstrator in Pathology Department in recently declared selection list.

Vide PMC Order No: GMC/ES-1/1581-A dated 8-01-19; seven demonstrators have been selected in Pathology Department, GMC Jammu (4 PSC confirmed and 3 Non-PSC). Initially there were only 3 posts of demonstrators available in the same Department but institutional head Dr Sunanda Raina under influence of HOD Ortho-Dr Anil Gupta and Advisor to Governor-K A Ganai, selected 7 candidates including daughters of both these big wigs, who are placed at merit position no 5 and 7 respectively in the select list.

Sources disclose that Principal of Medical College, Jammu has earned a notorious fame in earlier cases also as she has been allegedly found involved in many complaints of financial irregularities as well as favoritism to few by tampering marks sheets in the past.

Not only this, Principal, Medical College, Jammu has been under the influence by the bigwigs in managing and accommodating faculty members, registrars, demonstrators, even paramedics and nursing staff in the recent past.

The eye opening examples are of the overage persons in the Department who never get chance to acquire post of Registrar while the lower rung jumped above.

Besides, in branches like Pathology, ENT Opthalmology, Gynecology and Obstetrics, there are PG and MD courses but the genuine people are still not able to get registrarship even spending 10 to 15 years in rural Health Services.

Even the categorization for serving in health in backward areas in Actual Line of Control (ALC) is not approved or followed which is denting the career of the officials.

Sources add that if in Governor Rule, such irregularities, mismanagement and appeasement is at large, how such practices can be stopped under the popular democratic rule in Jammu and Kashmir, the hue and cry is being made by the local political parties for not having conducted the assembly elections.

People refuse to take sides with either Governor Rule or with democratic dispensation under such circumstances saying that state is on the verge of total collapse.
