GMC Faculty, Docs at loggerhead over FIR against Principal, her aide

As soon as Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Jammu-Ashwani Sharma directed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu to register FIR against Dr Sunanda Raina, In-Charge Principal Government Medical College Jammu and Dr Vishal Tondon, Associate Professor Department of Pharmacology in marks sheet tempering case, the matter is heating up on social media with each passing day and now doctors’ fraternity have come to loggerhead over the issue.
It is not first time when the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) has been dragged to limelight for its wrong doings by same group of people, but this time some vested interest doctors, who are allegedly henchmen of the Incumbent Principal, are trying to politicize and divide the faculty/doctor’s fraternity into groups.
Few days ago, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Jammu-Ashwani Sharma directed SSP Jammu to register FIR against Dr Sunanda Raina, In-Charge Principal Government Medical College Jammu and Dr Vishal Tondon, Associate Professor Department of Pharmacology in mark sheets tempering case.
Since then, some vested interested doctors, who have taken personal benefits from incumbent Principal by getting their near and dear adjusted, are inciting other medical fraternity against the FIR and asking them to be ready for fight in favour of Dr Sunanda Raina, Principal GMC Jammu and Dr Vishal Tandon, forgetting that there are court directions for registering FIR against the accused. They have gone up to the extent of making a lobby against the doctor by continuously inciting other fraternity by sending text messages on social networking sites. Pertinently, the doctor had been struggling all alone to get justice from concerned quarters since more than one year.
Meanwhile, some retired doctors including Ex-Principals of the GMC Jammu and incumbent doctors are of the view that the working of this premier institution is fast deteriorating due to some vested interests and that is very unfortunate. Few doctors opined that the close aide of Principal is in the habits of manipulations for personal and got two DPC within short span of time for himself by bypassing others, and is indulged in lot of administrative malpractices. They demanded that strict action should be taken against the accused so that no one is dare to play with the future of faculty and there should be transparency at every administrative level.
Other user (doctor) opined in the inbox of Jammu Doctor Forum said “Backbone of this institute is very fragile, Favouritism and other ISM Killing, once an institute of excellence now degraded to level where we hear bad from all people of region”. Another said, in the same group, “this issue has arisen only because office of PMC (Principal Medical College) is run by junior people from nonclinical department who have no work except to sit in office of PMC and guide the Principal against clinical branches and everyone is just playing politics against each other. Expect Dr Pathania, Dr SL Verma, Dr Kasturi Lal Gupta, and Dr Vijay Gupta the post of the Principal has been occupied by most incapable and defunct persons who have ruined the present as well as future of GMC Jammu, bad for Jammu doctors”.
This is high time that the Governor’s administration must act in the matter to prevent this premier institution from going to docks.
