Bureaucrat further said that the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir appears to be non-entity, because the leaders have undergone ‘hibernation’ since the abrogation of Article 370.

It may not be perhaps wrong to say that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is reeling under an uncertain political conundrum, wherein ruling Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is on roads to protest against government decisions, whereas opposition Congress is watching developments as mute spectators.
Following the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35 A, the political activities in Jammu and Kashmir have been almost stagnated, but BJP is not leaving any stone unturned to play on both sides of the corridor, in government as well as in opposition.
In a recent instance, the youth wing of BJP, Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a strong protest demonstration against the government, to be precise, its own government regarding cancellation of ‘controversial’ selection list of Fire and Emergency Services Department.
Not only youth wing (BJYM), but the president of the party for Jammu and Kashmir, Ravinder Raina, on record claimed that BJP is adamant for the cancellation of the list, but the question remains what is stopping them when they have their own government in centre as well as in J&K.
“Like the entire country, Jammu and Kashmir is also in political conundrum, wherein opposition is missing, ruling party is questioning its own decisions and nobody is accountable to anyone,” said a political observer, Dr. Manish Kotwal, adding that J&K unit of BJP is protesting against selection list, claiming it to be rigged, but they haven’t minted a single word against Toll Plazas and Property Tax.
He said that the BJP is deliberately raking up such issues to divert attention from other important and significant matters. “The party, despite being in power failed to provide adequate number of vacancies for Dogri subject in comparison to Kashmiri and now for the sake of politics they have raked-up the issue of selection in Fire and Emergency Services,” the observer said and added that BJP is the most insensitive political party.
He said, without any fault, people of Jammu are forced to reel under slow speed internet and no BJP leader has ever minced any word in this regard. “Unemployment, which is the burning issue of Jammu is kept in back burner by youth wing of BJP, who is apparently looking for votes by showing selective outrage for issues which doesn’t make sense for the public at large,” Kotwal said and added that it is the same party who tried to sale the property of temple.
Taking a dig at Congress and other opposition parties, Dr. Kotwal said that they are probably waiting for the elections.
“They are waiting for elections to come, so that they will kick start their political manifesto,” said Dr Kotwal, adding “Not even a single leader from Jammu took to streets in protest against many unilateral decisions of the Union government.”
Talking to The Typewriter, a senior bureaucrat, on the condition of anonymity stated that both the parties (BJP and Congress) are confused with their roles.
“The hitting of streets by BJP workers to protest against government decisions is not only insane and deceptive, but also manipulative and divertive from the real issues. If they are actually against the government decision, they can simply submit a representation with the party high command,” said the bureaucrat, adding that they are intentionally diverting attention of the public from the real issues.
Senior bureaucrat maintained that when the BJP, which rose to power by playing ‘regional and religious politics’, failed to answer the public in Jammu about non restoration of high speed internet, installation of toll plazas and now property tax, they (BJP leaders) have started fussing about ‘irrelevant’ issues.
“Now they are protesting against the statement of Dr Farooq Abdullah, which in no means affects the public, but they have to do it, because it will divert public attention from the real issues,” said the bureaucrat, adding that BJP is still acting as a ‘pressure group’.
Bureaucrat further said that the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir appears to be non-entity, because the leaders have undergone ‘hibernation’ since the abrogation of Article 370.
“I do not know how they will face the public during elections, they haven’t stood for their rights and grievances in difficult times,” said the bureaucrat, adding that Congress has ‘self-destructed’ by alienating itself from the public.
