Following surfacing of two cases of new XE variant of Covid in India, the Health department of Jammu has reportedly made all possible preparedness to deal with new probable wave of COVID. Concerned authorities claimed that drive against those who violate appropriate COVID behavior will be started soon.

Pertinently, Jammu witnessed an apparent mess in controlling and monitoring Covid cases previous years due to which many precious lives have been lost and thousands of families got affected.

As per the government’s claim the deaths as against active cases have been significantly lower in the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic than the previous one. It doesn’t mean people are allowed to violate the Covid appropriate behavior as the two citizens of the country, as per last reports came in, are suffering from new variant of the Covid.

A senior doctor cautioned that the Non-serious approach among people towards Covid-appropriate behaviour, adherence to SOPs particularly wearing of masks and physical distancing, poses serious threat of infecting the new variant of coronavirus.

“It seems that crowding the markets, resorts and weddings without wearing masks and no regard for social distance is unsolicited and unbecoming behaviour. In the interest and safety of our families and society, we need to act responsibly in every domain of life and social interaction,” the Doctor said and added that during last two covid waves, Jammu witnessed great damage, wherein mismanagement was visible.

When contacted, Director of Health Services Jammu, Dr Saleem Ul Rehman said that the department has kept eyes on the situation. The officials are being asked to monitor the situation closely. He also said that the department has continued with testing and providing the treatment to those who are needed.

“I will approach the District Magistrate to start the special drive against those who are violating Covid behavior”, Dr Saleem said.
